The Redditrepreneur Community Intelligence Scorecard: Gymshark
For years, brands have measured success through followers, engagement rates and impressions.
Those metrics tell you how visible a brand is.
They don’t tell you what communities actually think.
That’s why I created the Community Intelligence Scorecard.
Instead of measuring audience size, it measures how effectively a brand earns trust, influence and consensus inside the communities that matter.
To demonstrate how the framework works, I applied it to one of the world’s most recognisable fitness brands: Gymshark.
Overall Community Intelligence Score
91/100
Excellent Community Intelligence
Gymshark has built more than a successful ecommerce business.
It has built a brand that communities actively discuss, recommend and defend.
That distinction matters.
Community Intelligence isn’t about what a brand says about itself.
It’s about what customers say when the brand isn’t in the room.
Community Presence
19/20
Gymshark has achieved exceptional visibility across fitness communities.
Whether you’re browsing Reddit, TikTok, YouTube or fitness forums, the brand regularly appears in conversations about gym apparel, training and recommendations.
Importantly, these aren’t conversations started by Gymshark.
They’re started by customers.
That level of organic discussion is one of the strongest indicators of Community Intelligence.
Community Trust
19/20
Trust is built over time, and Gymshark scores highly because conversations consistently reference:
- Product quality
- Brand authenticity
- Athlete partnerships
- Customer experience
No brand receives universal praise, but Gymshark has established a level of credibility that encourages customers to recommend it to others.
Community trust compounds.
The more people recommend a brand organically, the easier future buying decisions become.
Share of Consensus
18/20
One of the most interesting parts of the analysis was Gymshark’s Share of Consensus.
This measures how frequently a brand becomes part of the community’s default recommendation.
When people ask:
“What’s the best gym clothing brand?”
Gymshark repeatedly appears alongside the same handful of recognised brands.
That is incredibly valuable.
It means the community has already shortlisted the brand before marketing has even begun.
Insight Responsiveness
17/20
Successful brands don’t just build communities.
They learn from them.
Gymshark has consistently evolved its products, campaigns and positioning over time.
While no company responds perfectly to every piece of feedback, there is clear evidence that the business pays attention to changing customer expectations.
Community Intelligence only creates value when insights lead to action.
Community Authority
18/20
Gymshark has grown beyond being a clothing company.
It has become part of fitness culture.
The brand earns recommendations without needing to participate directly in every conversation.
That is one of the strongest indicators of Community Authority.
Communities begin doing the marketing on your behalf.

What Brands Can Learn
Gymshark’s score isn’t the result of one successful campaign.
It’s the result of years spent building trust inside communities.
Brands often focus on:
- Followers
- Reach
- Engagement
Those metrics matter.
But Community Intelligence asks different questions.
- Are people recommending you?
- Do communities trust you?
- Are you part of the default conversation?
- Are customers influencing each other in your favour?
Those are the signals that increasingly shape purchasing decisions.
Why The Community Intelligence Scorecard Exists
Traditional social media metrics measure attention.
The Community Intelligence Scorecard measures influence.
As online communities continue to shape buying decisions, brands need better ways to understand how they are perceived beyond their own channels.
That’s the purpose of this framework.
It provides a structured way to evaluate how effectively a brand earns trust, consensus and authority across the communities that matter most.
What’s Next?
This is the first in a new series applying the Community Intelligence Scorecard to well known brands across industries.
Future scorecards will analyse companies across technology, ecommerce, fashion, SaaS and consumer brands to understand what separates strong community performers from everyone else.
